CommsMobile Standalone Plans 2.0

Overview

CommsMobile Standalone Plans 2.0 are SIM-only mobile services offered through CommsChannel reseller partners on the Telstra Wholesale Mobile Network.

Each service carries its own individual monthly data allowance and data bank. These plans include:

  • Unlimited national voice calls

  • Unlimited national SMS and MMS (excluding video MMS)

  • Monthly mobile data allowance

  • Data banking on eligible plans

  • Optional international roaming bolt-ons

Network coverage reaches approximately 98.8% of the Australian population.

Data Only Plans

Data Only plans are designed for devices that do not require voice or SMS — tablets, routers, and data-only devices.

Data Only Restrictions

  • No voice calls, SMS, or MMS

  • No International Direct Dial (IDD)

  • No international roaming

  • Data gifting is not available on Version 2.0

Voice plans include Unlimited International Direct Dial (IDD) calls, SMS and MMS (excluding video MMS) to the following destinations:

  • China (including mobile)

  • France (including mobile)

  • India (including mobile)

  • Ireland (including mobile)

  • Malaysia (including mobile)

  • New Zealand (including mobile)

  • United States (USA)

  • Vietnam (including mobile)

  • Applies to Voice plans only — not available on Data Only plans

  • Video MMS is not included

  • Calls to destinations outside this list will be charged separately or require an add-on


Data Banking

Eligible Standalone Plans 2.0 support data banking — unused monthly data rolls over into a data bank.

  • Data accumulates until the maximum bank limit is reached

  • Any unused data exceeding the cap is automatically removed

  • Data banking is not available on pooling plans

Roaming Bolt-On Packs

Roaming Behaviour

  • Pay-As-You-Go roaming is disabled — a roaming pack is required to use services internationally

  • When a customer arrives in a supported destination, they receive a welcome SMS

  • Customers reply to that SMS to activate a travel pack — no portal login required

  • Additional packs can be activated by replying to the same SMS

Roaming packs are available in 69 supported destinations worldwide.

⚠️ Roaming packs are not available on Data Only plans.

Plan Management

CommsMobile Standalone Plans 2.0 operate on a fixed billing calendar. The rules below apply to all plan activity.

Billing Cycle

The billing cycle runs from the 28th to the 27th of each month. All plan inclusions and usage are measured within this period. Bills are issued at the start of each billing month.


Plan Activation

When a new service is activated mid-cycle, charges are prorated based on the remaining days until the 27th.


Plan Changes

Plan changes can only be initiated on the 27th of each month — this is a system-enforced restriction. The plan change function is not available on any other date.

  • One plan change permitted per billing cycle

  • The new plan takes effect from the 28th (start of the next billing cycle)

  • Plan changes are irreversible once submitted — the carrier is charged immediately upon submission

  • The current plan remains active and is billed in full through to the 27th

For critical situations, contact your Account Manager who will review on a case-by-case basis.


Plan Downgrades

Downgrades follow the same rules as plan changes — they can only be submitted on the 27th, are irreversible once submitted, and take effect from the 28th.

⚠️ Any accumulated rollover data (data bank) is forfeited when a service is downgraded.


Service Cancellation

Services can be cancelled at any time via the Comms Portal or through your reseller partner.

  • No notice period required

  • The service is billed through to the 27th of the current billing cycle, regardless of when the cancellation is submitted

  • This applies to all cancellation types — voluntary cancellation, non-payment, port-out, and end of contract

  • No credit applies for unused days in the billing cycle


What Happens if a Service Exceeds its Data Allowance?

If the monthly data allowance — and any data bank balance — is reached:

  • Data access will stop automatically

  • No excess usage charges apply

Options to restore data access:

  1. Purchase additional data via the Comms Portal

  2. Upgrade to a higher data plan (change takes effect on the 27th)

⚠️ Data gifting between services is not supported in Version 2.0.

Device Requirements

Customers must provide their own compatible device.

4G devices must support:

  • 4G 1800 MHz band

  • 4G 700 MHz band

5G devices must support:

  • 5G 3.6 GHz band


Voicemail

Available on all Voice plans. Includes personal greeting setup and SMS notification for new voicemails.

To set up voicemail, dial 141 and follow the prompts.


Service Restrictions

CommsMobile services are designed primarily for use within Australia. The following number types are not supported:

  • Satellite numbers

  • Premium rate numbers

  • Some international numbers outside supported add-on destinations

Invoicing

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did my plan change not apply immediately?

Plan changes can only be submitted on the 27th of each month — this is a system restriction. The change is irreversible once submitted and takes effect from the 28th.


Can I undo a plan change after submitting?

No. Plan changes are irreversible once submitted — the carrier is charged immediately. For critical situations, contact your Account Manager to review options on a case-by-case basis.


What is the billing cycle for Standalone Plans 2.0?

The billing cycle runs from the 28th to the 27th each month.


Why was my activation charge prorated?

When a service is activated mid-cycle, charges are prorated based on remaining days until the 27th. This is the only event in 2.0 where proration applies.


Can I get a credit or refund if I cancel mid-cycle?

No. Services are billed through to the 27th of the current billing cycle regardless of when the cancellation is submitted. No credit applies for unused days. This applies to all cancellation types — voluntary, non-payment, port-out, and end of contract.


Can Standalone services share data with each other?

No. Each Standalone service has its own individual data allowance. Data sharing and data gifting are not supported in Version 2.0. For shared data pools, see CommsMobile Pooling Plans 2.0.


What is data banking?

Unused data from eligible plans rolls over into a data bank, accumulating up to the plan's bank limit (500GB for 4G, 1,000GB for 5G). Data banking is not available on the 5G XXXL Data Only plan or on pooling plans.


What happens when my data banking cap is reached?

Any unused data above the bank limit is automatically removed at the end of the billing cycle. The bank does not reset — it retains banked data until the cap is hit.


Why was my rollover data forfeited after a plan downgrade?

Accumulated data bank balance is forfeited when a service is downgraded. The new (lower) plan applies from the 28th and starts with an empty data bank.


Are roaming packs available on Data Only plans?

No. Roaming packs are only available on Voice plans.


How do I activate a roaming pack?

When a customer arrives in a supported destination, they receive a welcome SMS. They reply to that SMS to activate a travel pack — no portal login required.
