Telstra Wholesale Network & Supported Handsets

Published:

1. Overview

CommsChannel mobile services operate on the Telstra Wholesale Mobile Network, a high-quality segment of the Telstra network providing wide population and geographic coverage across Australia. It leverages the same core infrastructure as Telstra, ensuring reliability and performance, but with defined coverage and speed parameters for wholesale partners.

For coverage availability and to verify local network strength, partners can use the CommsMobile Coverage Map:

2. Network Technology & Frequency Bands

The Telstra Wholesale Mobile Network supports the following technologies and frequencies:

NetworkFrequency BandDescription
4G (LTE)700 MHz (B28)Excellent range and indoor coverage
4G (LTE)1800 MHz (B3)High capacity in metro areas
4G (LTE)2600 MHz (B7)Used in high-density locations
5G (NR)850 MHz (n5)Extended coverage in regional areas
5G (NR)3500 MHz (n78)High-speed data in major cities

Note: The 3G network has been permanently switched off in Australia. Only 4G and 5G-compatible devices are supported on the Telstra Wholesale network.

3. Supported Devices

To ensure compatibility, the customer’s device must support the above frequency bands and be VoLTE-capable for voice calling.

You can check device compatibility via the official Telstra Wholesale Device Checker:
👉 3G Network Closure & Blocked Devices Checker

If a customer’s device is not listed as compatible, it may not work properly on the network or may experience degraded service.

4. Data Speeds

Speeds on the Telstra Wholesale Mobile Network vary depending on multiple factors such as device capability, signal strength, congestion, network conditions, and environmental influences.

Download Speed Caps
  • 5G-inclusive plans: Up to 250 Mbps

  • 4G-only plans: Up to 100 Mbps

These caps represent the maximum possible network capability,  not guaranteed end-user speeds.
