Published:
Overview
A SIP trunk connects the PBX to the public telephone network. This guide covers adding a Comms Channel SIP trunk to a customer PBX and testing it before any routing is built.
Steps to Add the SIP Trunk
- Log in to the PBX web portal and go to Extension and Trunk > Trunk.
- Click Add.
- Enter a name (for example, CommsChannel Main) and set Trunk Status to Enabled.
- Set Select ITSP Template to General.
- In Detailed Configuration, set Trunk Type to Register Trunk.
- Enter the SIP server, username and password provided by Comms Channel.
- Set codecs to G.711a, G.711u, G.729 and DTMF to RFC 2833.
- Click the DIDs/DDIs tab and add the customer's numbers.
- Click Save and Apply, then confirm the trunk shows as registered in the Trunk list.
Steps to Test the Trunk
- Add the trunk to an inbound route and an outbound route.
- Make a test outbound call to a mobile number.
- Make a test inbound call to a DID.
- Confirm two-way audio and check both calls in the CDR.
