How to QuickPort a CommsMobile Service from 1.0 to 2.0
Published:
Overview
QuickPort moves an existing CommsMobile 1.0 service onto a 2.0 plan from within the Comms Portal. Because 1.0 and 2.0 run as separate network entities, this is a port (the mobile number stays the same), not a simple plan change.
Before you start
The customer must have CommsMobile 2.0 enabled on their account. In Customers → Customers List, check the CommsMobile 2.0 Account Number column, the customer needs a valid account number there. If it is empty, enable 2.0 from the Actions column before porting.
Steps to QuickPort a service to CommsMobile 2.0
- Open the customer and go to the Services tab.
- Find the service to port . In its Actions column, select QuickPort to CommsMobile 2.0.
- Read the information screen carefully, then select I understand, continue.
- Select the 2.0 plan. Filter by category or type the plan name to search (e.g. Standalone Voice + Data), choose the plan, and select Next.
- Choose the SIM type [old SIM to be replaced by new Physical or eSIM]:
- Physical SIM : keep Physical SIM selected and enter the new SIM number. It is validated as you type; Next enables only once the number is valid.
- eSIM : select eSIM (no SIM number needed) and select Next.
- Select Request OTP to send a one-time code to the number being ported, enter it, and select Verify — this enables the Port button. You can bypass the OTP, but review the on-screen disclaimer carefully before doing so.
- Set the notification preference: Service-level contact (default , the user assigned to the service) or Account-level contact (the customer admin).
- Select Port to start the porting process.
Key Notes
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Prerequisite | The customer must have CommsMobile 2.0 enabled (a valid 2.0 account number) before a service can be QuickPorted. |
| Why it's a port | 1.0 and 2.0 are separate network entities, so moving between them is a port — the mobile number is retained. |
| SIM options | Port to a new Physical SIM (enter and validate the SIM number) or to an eSIM (no SIM number required). Old SIMs won't work with 2.0 |
| OTP verification | An OTP to the porting number confirms the port. Bypassing is possible but shows a disclaimer first. |
| Notifications | Carrier notifications default to the Service-level contact, or the Account-level contact (customer admin) if selected. |
| Data & eligibility | Databank/data transfer and migration eligibility are covered separately — see Related articles. |
