Bria Softphone App: Build & Release Process

Published:

Overview

When Bria publishes a new release upstream, Comms Channel produces a customised build for our partners and distributes it through the iOS App Store, Google Play Store, and our direct download portal. This article explains the timeline, the direct-download option, and the notifications you'll receive at each stage so you can plan rollouts to your end customers with confidence.

Section 1 — How the build and release process works

Once Bria publishes a new release upstream, our build-and-publish process runs in two parts:

StepOwnerTypical Time
Compile the customised build with your branding and configurationComms Channel~2 business days
App Store review on Apple's and Google's sideApple / Google2–4 business days

App Store review timing is outside our control and varies with each store's review queue.

Expect roughly 4–5 business days total before the new version appears as an update in the iOS App Store or Google Play Store.

Section 2 — Direct Download: Skip the App Store wait (~60% faster)

We've introduced a new internal process where we make the customised build files available to you directly at the same time we submit to the app stores. This means you don't have to wait for store approval to start rolling out the new build to your users.

This reduces overall turnaround by approximately 60% — from ~4–5 business days down to ~2 business days.

Where to access the latest builds

While the apps are being validated on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store, you can download the latest builds directly from our portal:

Section 3 — Notifications you'll receive from us

At each stage of a Bria release cycle, we'll email you so you have full visibility into where things are:

  1. Build submitted notification — sent when our customised build has been submitted to the App Store and Google Play Store, and is also available for direct download from the portal above.
  2. Build live notification — sent when the new version goes live in the iOS App Store and Google Play Store, so you can advise your end customers to update from there if they haven't already installed via the direct download.

If a release window comes and goes without either notification from us, please raise a ticket — it usually means Bria is still working on the upstream release, but we'd rather confirm than leave you uncertain.
