CommsMobile Voicemail Guide

Published:

Overview

CommsMobile provides a built-in network voicemail service (personal answering service) that lets users receive messages when they can't answer calls. Voicemails are stored on the Telstra Wholesale network and accessed by dialling 101.

Users can record a custom greeting, manage messages, access voicemail remotely or while roaming, and (on 2.0 Plans only) receive limited voicemail-to-text up to approximately 10 seconds.

⚠️ iPhone Users: Check for Live Voicemail First

If the customer is on iPhone with iOS 18 or later, Apple's Live Voicemail may be intercepting voicemails on the device before they reach the CommsMobile 101 mailbox. Live Voicemail is an Apple on-device feature, not a Telstra Wholesale network service.

Use this diagnostic to determine which voicemail is active:

SymptomLikely Cause
Voicemails appear in the Phone app's Voicemail tab but not when dialling 101Live Voicemail is active
The greeting heard by callers is different to the one recorded via 101Live Voicemail is active
Calls go to voicemail after about 15 seconds regardless of network settingsLive Voicemail is active

If the issue is with Live Voicemail, advise the customer to open iPhone Settings > Phone > Live Voicemail and toggle it Off. Once disabled, calls will route to the CommsMobile 101 mailbox as normal.
